The Europa Research Group is delighted to welcome Dr Eva Kassoti, from the Asser Institute, as the first visiting scholar of this calendar year. In a shift west and south from our previous events, she will be discussing the highly complex issue of the ECJ’s treaty interpretation in the Western Sahara Campaign UK case. This case combines international law, independence movements, colonial history, and questions of sovereignty and recognition and should provide a fruitful ground for both the presentation and following discussion. For those who are interested she has recently published a paper on the subject in the Common Market Law Review entitled “The ECJ and the Art of Treaty Interpretation: Western Sahara Campaign UK”. We are looking forward to welcoming you all to this exciting event!

We also call on everyone interested in the event to express respect and objectivity if attending as the opposite would not be tolerated.
