Daniel specialises in marine public law, i.e. the law that governs our use of the world’s seas and oceans.  Daniel’s practice is mainly advisory and includes both contentious and non-contentious work.  His clients include companies, environmental NGOs, public bodies and intergovernmental organisations.  Daniel also provides training seminars on marine law to both lawyers and non-lawyers.

Robert is the founding partner of Volterra Fietta and a Visiting Professor of International Law at UCL. He regularly represents governments and advises private entities on a wide range of law of the sea issues, including in relation to fisheries. He has acted as lead counsel for several governments in maritime disputes before the ICJ and UNCLOS Annex VII arbitral tribunals.
